Master Crazy Quilting! Create a block by machine while learning the technique of crazy quilting. Melody will steer you through the sea of threads available to today's crazy quilters and machine sewers. Learn easy ways to make a bow, how to create texture with ribbons and lace all by machine!
Supply List
- Sewing machine (bring machine manual plus all attachments including extension table)
- Regular foot
- Embroidery foot (open toe, if you have one)
- Extra bobbins, 2 or 3
- Machine needles:
Embroidery 75/11 & 90/14
Metafil/Metallic 80/12
Top Stitch 100/16
- Fabric Scissors - with sharp point
- Pins
- Marking pencil - color you can see and is easy to remove
- Large eyed hand needle (for hiding the ends of the thread)
- Rotary cutter, ruler and mat
- Thread - different colors:
Regular piecing thread Machine embroidery thread
Rayon thread
Light weight metallic thread
Flat film polyester thread (Superior Threads;
Glitter or Sulky; Holoshimmer)
Nylon or polyester bobbin thread (medium gray
is a good choice)

- Yarn or braid for couching
- Medium weight stabilizer - 2 pieces 13" square
- Fabric for the crazy patch: Choose a variety of colors or just one, be sure that you have a variety of textures. For one 12" block: fifteen to twenty five 4" by 10" strips. Remember that your stitches show better on plainer fabrics.
Embellishments
- Buttons - flat ones to sew on by machine
- Ribbon
- Small doilies, lace or lace motifs
- Cording

- Couching or braiding foot, walking foot
- Lamp, if you need one
- Chair cushion
